INTERNET RADIO ROCKS THE ROCKET

INTERFACE, THE INTERNET pirate radio outfit, recently hauled its Netcasting equipment along to London's refurbished Rocket Complex on Holloway Road. The reason? Link.Up 98 - a new monthly event of underground music combined with Internet access, promoted and webcasted live by interFACE.

The busy opening night attracted a diverse crowd, from interFACE's wide range of Net fans through to students and devoted clubbers. While the downstairs floor grooved to a selection of breakbeats spun on four decks by the likes of Snoggle crew and Eammon Dog, the upstairs arena shook to drum 'n' bass madness with Kemistry & Storm and interFACE's own Junior Buzz, amongst others. The whole night went out in live audio and video to an Internet audience logged on to http://www.pirate-radio.co.uk.

As with all interFACE events, Link.Up reached a global audience, with those who couldn't be present in person listening to the live stream and interacting via the Web-based chat room and by ICQ. One chat room regular - KC Mack from New York - made the trip over to the Holloway Road venue. "I'm friends with the interFACE people and wanted to check it out. The sound system is awesome. I'll definitely come back next month."
